"Good morning class and welcome to the fourth grade. My name is Miss Potion. Let's start the day by introducing ourselves," Miss Potion said, addressing the class. She was dressed in a long black dress. "Let's start over here."

"Hi. My name is Nick Goodman," said the boy in the first row, with a nervous voice. "Hello. I'm Sandy Ruco," said the little girl behind him. "I'm Paul Simmons," shouted the boy behind her, waving his hand.

After everyone was through, Miss Potion told the class all that they would be doing that year. She told them about the field trips, the experiments, and all the other fun and interesting things she had planned.

"Now class, pay attention. These are the class rules; no running in the halls, raise your hand when you want to speak, be kind to others, follow directions, no talking when the teacher's talking, do your very best work, have fun, and the last rule is to obey all the other rules," said Miss Potion, placing the list of rules back on the wall next to a large, old fashioned broom. "Since today is a half day, we've only got a few minutes left. I hope all of you have a nice time in my class this year, I know I will. Everybody have a good day, and I'll see you all tomorrow," she said.

After school Paul told everybody he thought Miss Potion was a witch, but they didn't believe him. "But what about her name? Potion? I'm mean come on. And dressed all in black with that big broomstick. It's so obvious," he exclaimed, but they still didn't believe him. So he then took them all inside to look for clues.

Sandy found a magic book in her filing cabinet. Nick found a big, black, pointed hat under her desk. And Jesse found a cage with a black cat in it. They made a list of all the things they had found.

Before school the next morning, the class went to the principal's office and told him that Miss Potion was a witch. "Miss Potion... a witch? Really kids, I don't think so," said the principal, "What are you kids up to anyway?"

"Nothing. But we thought you should know we found all these things hidden in her classroom," said Paul, "You can even go look for yourself." So the principal did, but he didn't find any of the things on the kid's list. Then the bell rang. "Get to class kids, and I'll see you all after school," said the principal.

Class went on as usual, but half way through Miss Potion told the class to put down their pencils and line up. She told them there was going to be an assembly. The class got to the commons and saw all the things that were on their list. They were being used in a play. The principal made the class apologize to Miss Potion.

"Lesson number one class. Remember, things aren't always what they appear," said Miss Potion, with a little chuckle.
