Daredevil
Dive!

by Justin (age 15)

Audio Version

My family and I went to Great America on July 2. We all had alot of fun. I went on everything I could before we had to leave. And the greatest of all attractions in the entire park was the new Daredevil Dive.

The Dive is located near Iron Wolf. The cost is $30 for one person, $50 for two people, $45 for three people. You can also get a movie of you and your friends on the Dive if you want.

You start by getting strapped into this body length harness, which gets checked and double checked for safety. Then you walk up the ramp (which is usually empty because this ride isn't for the weak of stomach), and are met by the rest of the workers. They'll check your suit again and ask which one is going to pull the ripcord, which I did and it made me feel really cool. They hook you up to a couple cables and pull you up 125' in the air. While you're up there you here a countdown and then pull the cord.

Now let me tell you all, this ride was great! You're up there, face down and you get the countdown. The next thing I hear is "Justin...get ready. 1, 2, 3 FLY!" I pulled the cord and it was a total freefall. It is such a rush. It's like a bungee jump/swing combined. If any of you are going the Six Flags in Gurney be sure to visit Daredevil Dive.
