Convincing Parents!
by Nanda (age 12)

Hi! My name is Nanda and I'm an expert on convincing parents to see it my way (I get what I want!) If you want something really bad, the first rule is: Don't nag your parents! Mention that your friend just got a really cool pair of pants and say nothing else about it. Instead, leave some magazines around open to the ad. If you birthday is coming up, or maybe another holiday that you celebrate with gifts, put the item on your list.

If this item is an animal, I suggest a Chinchilla. This is my animal of choice because it is odorless. It has odorless urine and no body scent at all. To convince your parents: STUDY! It helps parents to know that you have studied and know what you're doing. Be prepared to answer their questions. My parents asked, "Do they bite?" My answer was, "anything with teeth can bite."

If you want privacy from a sibling or parents, follow these instructions and you'll be fine. For privacy from siblings, ask your mom for a lock for your door (don't forget to give a spare key to someone you can trust). To get the lock, tell your mom that there are some things you'd like to keep private and telling them to stay out isn't working. Look for a cheap, easy to install lock that comes with 2 or more keys to have on hand for your discussion.

If your parents aren't giving you enough privacy, you should confront them and tell them how you feel. Tell them that some things are meant to be private and that knocking is a good idea. DON'T GIVE THEM AN ATTITUDE!!!

That about sums things up. If you have a big problem that needs convincing tips, email me at Nanda!
