South Metropolitan Regional Research Institute

    The South Metropolitan Regional Research Institute (SMRRI) developed in 2003 as a result of the South/south-West Regional Balanced Growth Initiative. The institute exists to build a sustainable capacity to conduct credible research and host forums and conferences on issues relevant to the future of the South/South-west Region.

    Research activities entail a broad range of topics including, but not limited to: School funding policies, Property taxation equity, TIF districts, Quality of life, and Conservation issues. Sponsoring agencies of the SMRRI are Governors State University and Lewis University.
