THE ORGANIZATION
Hegewisch Community Committee is an organization of concerned residents who come together to provide services for the children and youth of the neighborhood.
Two full time staff are provided by the Chicago Area Project to provide the services, community organizing and advocacy as directed by the Governing Board of the Hegewisch Community Committee. HCC works with all other community organizations whenever possible to solve community problems and provide services. Throughout its 62 years of existence, HCC has worked in partnership with many churches, schools, libraries, parks, police department, business and civic groups, as well as other public and private agencies. As the community has changed the Hegewisch Community Committee has continued to increase its outreach to address the needs of residents. In addition to the original focus of youth services, HCC also provides a wide array of services and referrals for growing Senior Citizen population. Adult Education and Job Counseling services have been added to HCC's service menu. Policy decisions are made by the Officers and Directors, local residents and business representatives who volunteer their time, talents, and resources out of a deep commitment to their neighborhood and its children.
