Am Echad Junior Congregation

Dalia Podwol, Sunday School Director

Jewish prayer has been a pillar of the Jewish religion for over 2000 years. It is at the heart of Jewish spirituality. It is one of the ways our religion enables us to reach for God. The ability to participate in a Hebrew service is a basic component of a strong Jewish identity.

Participation in public worship sensitizes the worshipper to the joy and sorrows of the Jewish people. Exposure to the prayers and lessons from the weekly Torah reading at Jr. congregation provide moments of reflection on Jewish values and Jewish aspirations. Familiarity with the narratives and values of the Torah are basic components of Jewish identity.

Our Jr. Congregation provides a warm nurturing environment where children can gain the skills necessary to participate in Jewish services. Regular attendance at Jr. Congregation through the Hebrew school years is a vehicle for helping youngsters to be comfortable and familiar with a crucial area of Jewish life.
