Community Organizations
    A number of community activities take place at Hope Lutheran - 
both Christian-oriented and secular.
 
  Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) 

Alcoholics Anonymous meets at Hope Lutheran on Fridays at 7 p.m. and on Saturdays at 8 p.m. 

Thrivent Financial for Lutherans (formerly AAL & Lutheran Brotherhood) 

Thrivent Financial for Lutherans (formerly AAL and LB) is a fraternal organization that was formed when Aid Association for Lutherans merged with the Lutheran Brotherhood. In addition to providing insurance, investment, and retirement plans, Thrivent is supports fund-raising activities for local, national, and international non-profit organizations. . Most recently, Thrivent members at Hope have worked on and raised money for a Habitat for Humanity rehab project in Harvey, Illinois. The Chapter of Southeast Cook County (of which Hope is a member) holds its monthly chapter meetings on the third Monday of the month at 7 p.m. at Markham Lutheran Church, 160th & Clifton Park, Markham, Illinois, with the exceptions of the months of March, June, September, & December. Then, the meetings are held on the third Saturday of the month at 9 a.m. at Markham Lutheran Church.

Garden Club 

The Park Forest Garden Club meets at Hope on the second Tuesday of each month at 11 a.m. 

Quilting 

A number of people gather to work on quilts every first & third Monday of each month at 9 a.m. 

Stephen Ministry 

Stephen Ministry is a group of people within the church trained to help people deal with special problems such as illness, divorce, the loss of a friend or loved one, or the loss of a job. Stephen Ministers are available to members and non-members of the congregation. Confidentiality is held to be of extreme importance. Weight Watchers 

A local Weight Watcher's group meets every Thursday at Hope at 6 p.m.
