Homewood-Flossmoor High School
Homewood-Flossmoor High School serves Flossmoor and all portions of neighboring communities. The principles guiding H-F High School's administration, teaching staff and counselors include more than just providing information and developing skills. Educators believe that the school has the responsibility to prepare each student for the "next step", whether it's furthering their education at a college or university, joining or serving the community.
Homewood-Flossmoor High School was the ONLY high school in Illinois to receive nomination for both the Blue Ribbon Schools 1994-1995 Secondary Program and the Drug-Free School Recognition Program.
Following a decade of preparation and financial planning implemented over several years, H-F High School was able to complete a $20 million facilities renovation. All classrooms have been modernized and wired for computer-assisted instruction and satellite reception; the project also allowed the district to expand the library and audio-visual facilities; add a new music wing for chorus, band and orchestra; enhance the dressing and storage areas for the drama department; and construct an Olympic-style swimming pool.
In support of the H-F High Schools Technology Plan, and as part of the renovation plan, the district built a Technology Center to house two Macintosh computer labs, an IBM lab and a computer User's Center. The quality of the Technology Plan is apparent in its curricular inclusiveness and has been recognized by Electronic Learning Magazine as one of the nation's five best.
H-F's teaching staff and administration strive to inspire the highest possible standards of performance, character, integrity and moral values in every student, knowing that the ultimate measure of success is the contribution the student makes to their community and to society as a whole.
