Ice Cream Social Kick-Off,

The 2003 Summer Reading Club, ”GO ON A SAFAread” and the Teen Reading Club, “READING IS OUT OF THIS WORLD” and other activities at your Park Forest Public Library will begin on Monday, June 2, and will continue through Friday, August 1. The Friends of the Library will help us kick-off the program with an ice-cream social on Monday, June 1 at 7:00 pm in the Youth Services Department. Jessie White, Secretary of State and State Librarian, has been invited to attend the event. The final event will be a Pizza Party at Central Park which will be followed by a Silly Safari Show by Jungle John at Freedom Hall on Friday, August 1, 12 Noon to 2:00 pm.
The Summer Reading Club activities have been designed for children in pre-school through 8th grade. Please stop by the library, become a member and pick up your reading packet starting June 2 in the Youth Services Department.

Monday, June 1: Summer Reading Club begins. ~ 7:00 pm - The Friends of the Library will help us to kick-off our program with an Ice Cream Social in the Youth Services Department. Mr. Jesse White, Secretary of State, has been invited to this event. Join us, become a member and pick up your reading packet.
Fridays, June 6, 13, 20, 27: Movies!! Movies! Movies!!! ~ 1:30 pm (Snacks and drinks will be provided).
Tuesdays, June 10, 17, 24: Megateen: a teen magazine workshop by Pearl Shabazz, ~ 7:00 pm. Registration required.
Wednesdays, June 11, 18, 25, July 9, 16: Sign Language Workshop for teens. ~ 1:30 pm. Please register in advance.
Thursday, June 12: Safa-Read Club Day – Movie/Father’s Day Craft (For all ages) ~ 1:30 pm. Registration required.
Saturday, June 21: Magic Show by Magician Carl Dacorte (A family program) ~ 1:30 pm in the Ringering Room. No registration necessary.
Thursday, June 26: Safa-Read Club Day (All groups) ~ 1:30 pm. Registration required. Special program by Naturalist Lily Bormet of the Thorn Creek Nature Center.
Monday, July 7: Entertainment by Musician Neil Whitham (A family program) ~7:00 pm in the Ringering Room. No registration is required.
Tuesdays, July 8, 15: Movies! Movies!! Movies!!! ~ 7:00 pm (Snacks and drinks will be provided).
Thursday, July 17: Safa-Read Club Day - Art Workshop (For all ages) ~1:30 pm. Pick up an animal book and learn to draw with Mr. John Ray.
Saturday, July 19: Meet Children’s Author Kevin Luthard (A family program) ~ 1:30 pm in the Ringering Room. Mr. Luthard will also be selling and autographing his books.
Friday, July 25: Reading Records must be turned in by 6:00 pm today. No late records will be accepted.
Friday, August 1: Final party / Silly Safari Show by animal entertainer, Jungle John ~ 1:00 pm at Freedom Hall. All active club members and their families are welcome.
