The Mokena Emergency Services & Disaster Agency is staffed entirely by volunteers with an interest in serving the public. Being a member of Mokena ESDA can be a challenging, yet rewarding experience. It is a great opportunity to play an active part in your community, meet a number of people, gain valuable training and experience, and work alongside other Village agencies and departments.

Being a member of Mokena ESDA brings with it a number of benefits, including:

• The opportunity to help your community while gaining valuable experience.
• Training in various subjects paid for by the Agency, such as traffic direction, tornado spotting, hazardous materials, search and rescue, CPR, first aid, and more.
• Uniforms and other issued equipment paid for by the Agency;
• Opportunities for advanced training in areas related to public safety;
• Opportunities for advancement to leadership positions within the Agency;
• Opportunities to specialize in areas such as hazardous materials, search and rescue, communications and warning, apparatus maintenance, and public education, to name a few.

• Must reside in or within close proximity to the Village of Mokena;
• Must be at least 21 years of age;
• Must possess a valid Illinois Driver's License;
• Must not have any prior criminal history.

Once accepted, a new member is placed on a six month probationary period and will begin all required training. To maintain membership, members are expected to complete all required training, attend regular meetings and training sessions, and be available for calls, details, and other assignments.
