ESDA leader gets standing ovation in Mokena
Mokena officials gave a standing ovation at a recent Board
of Trustees meeting to the village's longtime Emergency Services
and Disaster Agency coordinator, who resigned earlier
this month. Harold Damron, ESDA's coordinator in Mokena for 14
year, is leaving his post to take a job with Will County's
ESDA. during his tenure in Mokena, Damron helped increase
volunteer interest in the agency, enhance the village's
warning siren system and improve ESDA's equipment and emergency
response fleet, village officials said.
ESDA works closely with local police and fire agencies
during emergencies and coordinates teams of volunteers to respond to
emergency scenes. This spring, Damron's team was
called to the site of the Amtrak crash in Bourbonnais. Damron thanked
village leaders for their support over the years.
He said he will keep posted on village affairs through his wife, Barb,
who is the
village's finance director.
