Mokena ESDA provides crowd control at a unique local accident involving vehicle vs. apartment building.


 
 
 

Amtrak Crash 286

ESDA personnel were requested to assist at the scene of a train derailment involving an Amtrak train in nearby Bourbonnais on March 15-16, 1999. Over a dozen passengers were killed and more than 100 injured when their train collided at a crossing with a tractor-trailer. ESDA's mobile incident command center, pictured on right,  was used by the Bourbonnais Fire Chief and other commmand personnel, while ESDA's lighting and rescue squad, pictured left, was put into action providing lights on the north side of the incident scene.



 
 

ESDA is called on during a hazardous materials incident that forced the evacuation of several businesses, including a day care center. Former ESDA Coordinator Harold Damron (standing) together with Police Chief Steve Pollak (foreground) and Former Mokena Fire District Deputy Chief Joe Holomy track the incident response from inside van 285, ESDA's mobile incident command center.
