Pastor Burney's Installation

On Sunday March 30th at 4:00 PM was the installation ceremony for Pastor Burney.   Many guests and other clergy were in attendance.   A reception with refreshments followed.   Many, many pictures were taken.   Below are just a few representative ones.

The service was opened by the Call To Worship given by Chaplain Danielle Williams.

The Invocation was given by Rev. Robert Hempel.

Our Moderator, Barbara Burleson welcomed everyone.

We even had a group of mimes deliver a message thru dance.

Just one of many ministers providing a blessing was Pastor Michael Sykes from Faith UP Church in Park Forest.

Rev. Clarence Bivens from Portland Memorial MBC, Louisville, KY, also gave a blessing.

Our choir provided some great music.

Besides our own choir, we also had the Portland Memorial Gospel Ensemble to provide additional music.

The sermon was given by Pastor Burney's teacher and mentor, Rev. Dr. Yvonne Delk.

Milt Linn made the formal presentation of Pastor Burney to the representatives of the UCC for installation as our new Pastor.

The actual installation was done by our Association Co-Minister, Rev. Edward Goode, and the Dean of Cluster V, Rev. Robert Hempel.

Our own Matt Schrieber showed the Portland Ensemble that they weren't the only ones that could rock the house. Go Matt!

Led by Rev. Delk, several of the ministers gave Pastor Burney a blessing.

Our previous Pastor, Bob Townsend, presented Pastor Burney with one of our distinctive blue shirts.   We will be seeing more of that shirt this summer.

Pastor Burney's sons also had a few words of encouragment and humor.

The service also included Pastor Burney doing Communion with lots of help.

A reception followed that included this beautiful cake.

There were lots of goodies to eat.   This was just the main table.
