Congregational Ministries

Music Ministry

Many members and friends at St. Paul's-Good Shepherd congregation participate in our music ministry. Individual soloist, quartets, instrumentalists, and the full Chancel Choir provide a strong support for our worship experience. The Chancel Choir presents special messages in music for Christmas, Lent, Easter, and participates in the Park Forest Choir Fest each year.

The choir is open to all who wish to sing. Chancel Choir practice is held Wednesdays at 7:00 PM in the Sanctuary.

We are currently looking for a new, permanent accompanist. If you have some qualifications, please call the Church and leave a message, or call Jackie at 748-9309 and leave a message, or contact the Webmaster.  Our Clavinova provides a special depth to our music as it can simulate many types of pianos, organs, drums, string instruments, flutes, and horns -- all at the same time.

Youth Programs

Youth in grades six through twelve are invited to participate in a variety of activities each month. The program includes service projects, recreation, study and worship.

At times, the United Protestant Churches in Park Forest combine their youth groups for special events

Chancel Drama Group

The Chancel Drama Players present  productions each year during worship, at special events, and in other churches in the surrounding area. New players are welcomed each year. Their gifts enhance our worship and the lives of each person who witnesses these productions as well as those who participate as players.

Prayer Group

The prayer group, a vital ministry of St. Paul's-Good Shepherd United Protestant Church, meets weekly, answering requests for prayer that were raised in Sunday morning worship. Many cards are sent and each person continues to be held in prayer each day by members of this group of dedicated volunteers. The prayer group meets Tuesday at 9:30 AM.

Visitation Ministry

An important ministry is the visitation to those in nursing homes and others who are homebound. Regular visits to those who cannot join us in worship because of illness or infirmity are provided by church members and friends of all ages. The Pastor also provides at-home Communion service to those who request it.

Men's Breakfast

Meets each Wednesday at 8:00 AM at Agee's in Crete for food and fellowship.

3rd Sunday Brunch

This is a monthly event to which people of all ages are invited ( babies to seniors) joining in good food and fellowship at "Vic's on Main" in Crete at 11:30 AM, after worship service. Great pasta bar and omelette bar. Anyone wishing more information about our church can come to join us and find out what we are all about firsthand.

Adult Fellowship

Meets periodically for fellowship and social outings. Trips in the past have included Wendella Boat Tours, a progressive dinner, and local theater outings.

Young(ish) Adult Group

A 20's, 30's and 40's group meets periodically for a lively discussion and dinner.
