Welcome
to the home page of Chicago Heights, the Crossroads of the Nation. In 1915,
when the and Dixie Highways were completed -- intersecting in Chicago
Heights -- our community became the Crossroads of the Nation.
Today, our city also is a crossroads of opportunity. Because
of its rich history and traditions, Chicago Heights is a good place to live,
work, raise a family, get an education and enjoy many recreational and cultural
amenities.
Our city's location in the Chicago metropolitan area offers many
advantages. Chicago Heights is near Interstate Highways 57, 80 and 94 and
just a 35-minute drive from downtown Chicago. Air transportation is available
from either O'Hare or Midway Airports. The city's manufacturing region is
served by the Union Pacific and Elgin Joliet & Eastern Railroad lines. Several
Metra commuter train stations are minutes away, and the regional Pace bus
system serves our town.
