Welcome to Plainfield, Will County's
Oldest Community
In the interest of serving you
better...
we are constantly trying to improve this
site
As president of the Village of Plainfield, it is my pleasure to
introduce you to Will County's oldest community. We are located in one of
the fastest growing counties in Illinois. Because of our convenient
location and easy accessibility to major highways, airports, and train
stations, many businesses and residents are looking to make Plainfield
their new home.
Our community strives to keep it's "small town" flavor while meeting
the demands of growth. More and more people are discovering what many
life-long residents already know - that Plainfield is one of the best kept
secrets in the Chicagoland area. We have an excellent school system, many
quaint shops, and pride ourselves on being known as a church community.
This prospectus on Plainfield offers a vast amount of community
information, as well as our most up to date demographics. Explore this
site and discover what a friendly place Plainfield is to reside in and do
business.
Sincerely,
Richard A. Rock

- The Village of Plainfield, in a joint effort with the
Plainfield Township Park District and a local developer, sponsored a
national design competition for the expansion of the Village Center on
approximately 300 acres of mostly undeveloped land. While the primary
challenge was one of architecture and design, issues of landscape
architecture and planning were also addressed. The thrust of the
competition was to
provide a high quality public environment that is compatible with and
supports the existing character of Plainfield.

a community group that was recently successful in acquiring an
environmentally
sensitive
property adjacent to the rookery, one of the largest nesting areas for
endangered birds in the state. Congratulations! The
property was otherwise subject to a
residential development proposal. Their web site offers information about
the rookery as well as their fundraising efforts.
