What Provisions Will There Be for Private Property?

No acquisition of residential private property is being considered as part of the park proposal. All existing garbage dumps within the park area would be closed, sealed, placed under owner liability escrow, and included in the park as open space. While we are working to establish the ecological park, CEPA monitors new proposals for land use that would be destructive to our goals, such as new landfills. We work in coalition with other organizations to prevent degrading land uses in the area.

The 100th Street Bridge is an historical connection to the industrial heyday of Chicago's southside and the inexpensive water transportation of the river systems.
